Welcome to NHWGA,
Competing in NHWGA events is a wonderful experience, but can be intimidating or frustrating if you don’t know the rules of golf. All NHWGA events are played by the USGA Rules of Golf. It is important that players have a basic understanding of the rules.
Seek out your club representative, club professional, NHWGA Board members and rules committee members for help in clarifying rules and procedures. Attend one of the two rules seminars that are being planned for the 2006 season. The following rules situations are common occurrences; try to become knowledgeable about the procedures and your options under the rules.
Rule 28 Ball Unplayable
Rule 27 Ball Lost or Out of Bounds
Rule 26 Water Hazards
Rule 25 Abnormal Ground Condition, Embedded Ball and Wrong Putting Green
Rule 24 Obstructions
Rule 23 Loose Impediments
Rule 13 Ball Played as it Lies
Rule 8 Advice; Indicating Line of Play
Rule 6 The Player
Rule 3 Stroke Play
The USGA has all the rules and decisions plus video online at www.usga.org
Our website www.nhwga.org can also be a valuable place for information.
