One of the goals of the NHWGA is to encourage junior girls in New Hampshire to play golf, build character and learn good sportsmanship, by providing them with positive experiences through competitive and educational events. It is our hope to promote the honor and integrity of the game to all who aspire to play, while preserving the traditions of golf.
The NHWGA 2017 junior season begins with the NHWGA Junior Girls Championship at Intervale Country Club on Thursday, June 29. All junior girls are eligible to participate in the NHWGA Junior Girls Championship as well as any junior clinics offered. We also encourage any junior girl, who meets handicap eligibility requirements, to join NHWGA and compete in weekly events.
The NHWGA will support the New Hampshire Golf Association (NHGA) Junior Tour for the 2017 tournament season. The tour schedule and application are available on the NHGA website: Click here for more information on NHGA Juniors. The NHGA Junior Tour is open to girls and boys and is currently broken down into two divisions.
Birdie events are open to boys ages 10-12 and girls ages 10-13. Competitors in the Birdie division will participate in 9-hole tournaments throughout the state. This is a great way to get a taste of competitive golf in a welcome and fun atmosphere.
Eagle events are open to boys ages 13-17 and girls ages 14-17. The Eagle division is broken down into Eagle A (ages 15-17) and Eagle B (ages 13-14). Competitors in the Eagle division will participate in 18-hole tournaments. Eagle events are designed for players with some tournament golf experience and are a great way to prepare for middle school, high school, and college golf.
The First Tee of New Hampshire offers other learning opportunities for younger golfers. Check out their offerings at: First Tee of New Hampshire
